The S&P 500 has surged more than 10% since January, and last week it surpassed Goldman Sachs’ year-end target of 5,200. The question is weighing heavily on the minds of investors, Goldman Sachs’ strategists wrote in a note Friday. The current rally in growth stocks is different from what happened when markets crashed in 2021 or during the tech bubble, the analysts wrote. Either of these shifts higher, analysts wrote, are dependent on the Federal Reserve’s next policy move. But for now, Goldman analysts will keep their baseline prediction of 5,200 for the S&P 500 unchanged.

“One study showed that individuals who play video games for longer times are at higher risk of developing hearing loss or tinnitus.”Tinnitus refers to an internal sensation of a ringing, buzzing or roaring sound in one or both ears. That’s why the study’s authors wondered what the relationship with hearing loss and tinnitus might be — especially since many games also have loud sudden sounds such as gunshots or engines revving. “This can result in temporary hearing loss or ringing in the ears,” she added. But hearing damage is permanent, and exposure to high-intensity sounds when young could make kids more vulnerable to developing age-related hearing loss later, so the authors have urged the importance of prevention. “Key warning signs of hearing loss include experiencing tinnitus, difficulties hearing high-pitched sounds or difficulties following conversations,” Dillard said.

A number of companies have recently demanded that antitrust enforcers pay default interest on fines in annulled antitrust cases. Deutsche Telekom challenged the fine at the Luxembourg-based General Court, Europe's second highest, which cut it to 19 million euros in 2018, forcing the EU competition enforcer to repay the difference. Deutsche Telekom returned to the court after the EU competition enforcer refused to pay interest for the period between the payment and the reimbursement and got judges to back its fight. The Commission then appealed to the Luxembourg-based EU Court of Justice (CJEU). The case is C‑221/22 P European Commission v Deutsche Telekom AG.

The technological feat, using NASA's Psyche probe, broke new ground for deep space communications. AdvertisementNASA has achieved a world-first after sending a laser-beamed message to Earth from nearly 10 million miles away within 50 seconds. While the space agency has long been able to communicate with spacecraft using radio waves, it had never before been able to send information using lasers from that far into space. The feat, achieved using NASA's Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) experiment on board the Psyche spacecraft, could someday allow humans to stream video calls on Mars. The spacecraft then beamed back information using its laser.

Nov 16 (Reuters) - Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (STEL.SI), the parent of Australian telecoms provider Optus, said on Thursday its planned software update was not the root cause for an outage last week, contradicting Optus' claims earlier this week. Optus had earlier in the week said an initial investigation found the company's network was affected by "changes to routing information from an international peering network" after a "routine software upgrade". SingTel, while confirming that Singtel Internet Exchange (STiX) is one of Optus' international networks that connects to the global internet, denied that the routine software upgrade was the root cause. "We are aware that Optus experienced a network outage after the upgrade when a significant increase in addresses being propagated through their network triggered preset failsafes," SingTel said. SingTel's statement comes a day before Optus CEO, Kelly Bayer Rosmarin faces an Australian senate inquiry into the massive outage.
